Laundry machines in every room

That’s it, kind of. I want a laundry machine in (almost) every room. Why? Why not!?

Why do we have to haul all our laundry to one place, wait for the right colors and temperatures to line up, remember to move them to the dryer or deal with stink (oh, yeah I also want every washing machine to be a dryer also !!).

Towels? They’re simple and they always belong in the bathroom. Why move them all over the damn house when there could be a little washer/dryer in there. Duh. It only has to handle a few at a time, there’s already plumbing and it might mean the ones in the rest of the house can be smaller. …AND, you need a dehumidifier in there anyway so you can ditch the loud ass fan that doesn’t work well anyway, loses heat in the winter, makes your attic mildew and that isn’t usually on a humidistat so your kids won’t freaking use it anyway. (Yeah, I know I just feature creeped the washer dryer, but really - it’s damn easy to do. Oh, and some bathrooms have towel heaters anyway. Oh, Oh, (like post post-script, get it?) some bathrooms have heaters also. Donezo.

Ok - towels and bathrooms are one thing. Other rooms also? Hell yeah. I’ll go straight to the weird. My OFFICE. Ok, my office also has my bike in it because I like my body workout right next to my brain workout and I use my computer’s huge screen for Zwifting. So… yeah I can drop trou, change into my bike gear and just ride. When I get off the bike, guess where the bike stuff goes? INTO THE WASHER. IN THE OFFICE. Yes, of course it dries also. This means I have to plumb the office, but barely. I can run a 1/4” copper line or pex and it’s plenty. 120 is enough for local heat because the load is small, and a little drain must plumb back to the rest of the house. Then, guess what? I also have a wet bar in the office. Ok, not really. This isn’t MadMen. But… I would like a little sink for coffee and water and tea in my office. Then guess freakin’ what? No more damn dishes accumulate in the office. Solutions all.over.the.damn.place.

I’m arguing that ‘efficient’ is often wrong. WTF does that mean? Well, Efficient isn’t even a thing (!!). Efficient, in the context of washing machines, is usually about energy. But I want efficiency for my time. This will also save energy energy (!!). Having stuff where you need it, and maybe even (egads, has he gone too far?) combining storage with the machines… means less space taken up elsewhere. Get it? Having washer/dryers in multiple places sets off a chain reaction of space savings…..

Tired. Will do more later.
